let's get to know each other

Hi, I'm Dana

I can't wait to share with you how I see your life through my lens.

a little about me

I realized this was what I was meant to do the year after my first baby was born. Even if it was only ever for me and my own little family, that would have been enough for me. And my poor first kid, he just didn’t stand a chance to a stay at home mom with a camera in hand and motivation to save some money and a few dozen trips to the JCPenney Portrait studio. What can I say except it snowballed from there. So that was 2003. We had another baby, a daughter who loved having her picture made(my son was relieved to say the least). He got a much deserved break while she got tutus and very large and aggressive bows in her hair. It was 2005. It was the trend. And she loved to model. In 2009, with my very supportive(and very handy I might add) husband, we built a separate studio so I could quit shooting sessions in my living room. Thank you to everyone who put up with that, btw ;) In 2016, we built a new house on the opposite side of the county near where my husband grew up, clear out in the boonies. In 2018, I moved downtown into another studio to be a little closer. 2022 was the year that came the surprise of our lives, just as our two children were entering their almost grown era of teenage-hood and what we thought was our "Freedom", HA! We welcomed TWINS, very unexpectedly I must add, another boy and girl into our family. After a pretty complicated pregnancy, they were born at 29 weeks. We were in NICU for over 3 months(yes it's as traumatizing as you would imagine), and our baby girl had many complications so when we all finally made it home together, my photography business had to take a little hiatus while we adjusted to the new normal. Now living in our new normal, we have been building a new studio space next to our new home so I can be closer to the babies and it will be open for sessions Summer of 2024. Did I mention our new home is also a hobby farm we started in 2020, pre-twins, with mini cows, mini donkeys, kune kune pigs, goats, and of course chickens? Needless to say, it’s been a journey!
